Commercial & Industrial Architecture Commercial architecture is the design of buildings and structures for use by various types of businesses, whether they be retail, wholesaling, office accommodation or technology based premises. This type of architecture is primarily concentrated on the fusing of function with aesthetic design to meet the needs of the clients and the users whilst integrating into their environment which may be a urban or even residential setting. Commercial architecture can most readily be seen in city and town centres where most of the modern buildings are of a commercial design.
At FmK we have extensive knowledge of commercial buildings, their design and technical requirements and the need for commercial buildings to be flexible in design so that the building can change in it’s usage easily from one businesses’ needs to another. Industrial architecture is similar in some ways to commercial in that the structural components and materials can be similar. Industrial buildings tend however to concentrate on function rather than aesthetics, with the business requirements for square footage, utilities etc taking precedence. At FMK we strive to bring quality design into these buildings to facilitate flow of work and space planning whilst keeping the budget under control. |
