Dwelling Sites on a Farm under PPS21Under the new Planning Policy, one dwelling is permitted on a farm every 10 years (applies from 2008 on). The Planning Service has conceded that there is still a need for for new dwellings on farms to accommodate both those engaged in the farm business and others who live in the rural community.

group of farm buildings. Other areas Infill sites in roadside ribbon development Permits the development of small gap sites within a built up frontage. Dwellings based on personal need Permits for a dwelling for a special personal need or circumstance. Dwelling to meet the essential needs of non-agricultural business One dwelling can be granted for an established non-agricultural business enterprise where a site specific need can be demonstrated.
